What is CuVerro®?

CuVerro® is a class of copper-based alloys that continuously kill harmful bacteria* 24 hours a day. These attractive, durable and easy to maintain surfaces represent the only class of EPA-registered solid surface materials that actively kill bacteria*.

Rocky Mountain Hardware has partnered with Olin Brass (the makers of CuVerro®) to manufacture the Pure Collection which is cast of CuVerro® antimicrobial alloys. This Collection is both functional as well as designed to complement and enhance the aesthetic appeal of standard hardware selections.

Why CuVerro®?

With antimicrobial properties that are EPA-registered to kill 99.9% of bacteria* within two hours, CuVerro® is a powerful adjunct to preventive care. As hospital acquired infections (HAI) account for more than 100,000 deaths per year with annual costs exceeding $45 billion, the use of CuVerro® touch surfaces is no longer an option but a necessity.

CuVerro® offers evidence-based, scientifically backed options for architects and designers focused on the built environment for healthcare, education, hospitality, public service and beyond. Rocky Mountain Hardware’s partnership with CuVerro® represents the latest advancement in the production of copper-based alloys that continuously kill harmful bacteria* 24 hours a day.

CuVerro® alloys offer extensive versatility for touch surface applications. Utilizing Rocky Mountain Hardware’s manufacturing processes we are able to produce a wide array of product offerings. Surfaces made with CuVerro® are a smart medical-grade alternative to surfaces such as steel, chrome, plastic, wood laminates, and stainless.

Regardless of the frequency of touch surface cleanings, HAIs continue to rise. More cleaning can’t guarantee eliminating bacteria* or fewer infections. A one-time investment in CuVerro® antimicrobial alloys will help augment existing cleaning strategies and continue to pay dividends for a lifetime.

The Facts

  • When cleaned regularly touch surfaces made with CuVerro® kill more than 99.9% of bacteria* within two hours. And they continuously clean with effectiveness that doesn’t wear down, or wear off, over time.
  • CuVerro® represents the ONLY class of solid antimicrobial surfaces recognized and registered by the EPA to make public health claims for their inherent ability to kill infectious bacteria* in two hours or less.
  • EPA registered to kill the following bacteria: MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus), Staphylococcus aureus, Enterobacter aerogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli O157:H7,VRE (vancomycin resistant enterococci).

CuVerro® Applications

Antimicrobial touch surface applications are as varied as the people who use them. Doctors, teachers, trainers, the list goes on and on. In addition to our healthcare based initiatives, Rocky Mountain Hardware is capable of producing a broad spectrum of product offerings. From healthcare to hospitality, education to public services, Rocky Mountain Hardware can manufacture a CuVerro® based product to meet & exceed your needs.

* Laboratory testing shows that, when cleaned regularly, CuVerro® surfaces kill greater than 99.9% of the following bacteria* within 2 hours of exposure: Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterobacter aerogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and E. coli O157:H7

The use of CuVerro® antimicrobial copper products is a supplement to and not a substitute for standard infection control practices; users must continue to follow all current infection control practices, including those practices related to cleaning and disinfection of environmental surfaces. This surface has been shown to reduce microbial contamination, but it does not necessarily prevent cross contamination. It should not be interpreted that CuVerro® is making claims to solely prevent HAI nor should it be implied that CuVerro® products make such claims.
